Clinical Material Access
Through the NI Biobank
Clinical materials for research can be obtained through one of our Founding Partners, the NI Biobank.
The Northern Ireland Biobank (NI Biobank) is a collaborative initiative based at Queen’s University Belfast, developed in partnership with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, that provides ethically approved, high-quality human biological samples and associated clinical data to support biomedical research.
Specialising particularly in cancer and chronic diseases, it collects, processes, and stores a wide range of sample types including tissue, blood, plasma, serum, urine, and DNA. All samples are collected with broad patient consent and are linked to detailed clinical and pathological information.
The biobank operates under strict ethical governance and offers access to both academic and commercial researchers through a formal application process.
With secure storage infrastructure and dedicated processing facilities, the NI Biobank plays a vital role in advancing precision medicine by enabling the discovery and validation of disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
